The eyes of the golf world will be on Muirfield Village Golf Club beginning Thursday morning.

Starting at 7 a.m. Thursday, the first round of the 2023 Memorial Tournament will tee off, with seven of the top 10 golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings fighting for a share of the $20 million purse including No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, No. 2 Jon Rahm, No. 3 Rory McIlroy and No. 4 Patrick Cantlay.

Thomas Detry did not have a strong start to the first round of the Memorial Tournament.

The former Illinois golfer started 3-over par after the first two holes before three pars and a birdie brought him back to 2-over.

On the seventh hole, Detry made himself even, recording an eagle — the sixth overall of the tournament —on a 46-foot putt. Detry is currently tied for 39th through eight holes.

Aiming for his first Memorial win, Rory McIlroy has not made many mistakes through four holes.

McIlroy is 1-under par through four holes, recording a birdie in the third hole.

Arriving as the reigning Memorial Tournament champion, Billy Horschel is off to a slow start in Dublin.

Horschel sits at 3-over par after he bogeyed three of the first four holes.

In the first round of his 2022 tournament win, Horschel finished 2-under par.

Matt Wallace finished his 2023 Memorial first round at the top of the pack.

Wallace, with a bogey on hole 18, finished 4-under with a 68, which is currently tied for first with Mark Hubbard through 17 strokes and Austin Eckroat through 16 strokes.

Rickie Fowler finished in the middle of the pack in his first round of the Memorial Tournament.

With three birdies, 11 pars and three bogeys, Fowler finished even with a 72 and currently sits tied for 30th.

Matt Wallace finished the first round of the 2023 Memorial near the top of the leaderboard.

With six birdies, 10 pars and two bogeys, Wallace finished four strokes under par at 68, finishing tied with Austin Eckroat, who was at 4-under through 15 strokes.

Wallace is two strokes behind Mark Hubbard, who has a 6-under through 15 holes.

Rory McIlroy has a PGA Championship, an Open Championship and multiple Tour championships. As he arrives Thursday, McIlroy is trying for his first Memorial Tournament title.

McIlroy has played in 11 Memorial Tournaments. His best finish was in 2016 when he tied for fourth place. he had three other top-10 finishes in 2010, 2011 and 2018.
