Francisco Lindor’s single caps Mets’ comeback win over Guardians in 10th inning
NEW YORK — Francisco Lindor wasn’t going to let any fondness for his old team stop this comeback.
Lindor hit a walk-off single in a wild 10th inning to give the Mets a come-from-behind 10-9 win over the Guardians on Friday night at Citi Field.
After Cleveland took a two-run lead in the top of the 10th, the Mets battled back on an RBI single from Mark Vientos. Pinch-runner Eduardo Escobar subsequently stole second base, allowing him to score on Francisco Álvarez’s single.
That brought up Lindor, who hit an Emmanuel Clase pitch back up the middle for the game-winner.
Pete Alonso also hit a game-tying grand slam in the seventh inning to give the Mets their shot in extras.
