Parramatta Eels vs Canterbury Bulldogs, news, scores, Clint Gutherson,

The Parramatta Eels have defeated a gutsy but injury-battered Canterbury Bulldogs 30-4 at CommBank Stadium to seal a second-straight victory on the back of a try double from Maika Sivo and masterful individual performances from Clint Gutherson, Reagan Campbell-Gillard.

The Eels held their rivals scoreless in the first half and surged to a 16-point lead with a three-try blitz in just over five first-half minutes.

The Bulldogs finally got on the scoresheet through a teen gun in the second half to reduce the deficit and keep the pressure on the Eels.

But the outstanding Reagan Campbell-Gillard hit back to cap off a fine individual performance, before Maika Sivo finished things off three minutes from time with his second try of the match and a league-leading ninth of the season to date.

The Bulldogs – already without Viliame Kikau and Josh Addo-Carr – lost Jacob Kiraz to a knee injury early on, while Jake Averillo also battled through knee trouble throughout the clash.

Jake Duke reported on Fox League the initial diagnosis was a low-grade MCL injury.

Seven minutes later, Jake Averillo also suffered a knee injury, though he was able to play on despite clear discomfort and impairment.

Jake Duke reported on Fox League it was a patella injury that he had carried into the game but was exacerbated by a bad knock.

“He’s seriously playing on one leg,” Andrew Voss said later. “I reckon he’d be running at less than 50 per cent.
