Former world No 1 Ashleigh Barty will help develop future Australian tennis talents. Barty, a former three-time Grand Slam champion, shockingly retired from pro tennis at the age of 25 last March. After taking some time for herself, Barty is returning to tennis but in a new role.

Along with her former coaches Craig Tyzzer and Jason Stoltenberg, Barty will help Tennis Australia to develop the next generation of Australian talents. “Supporting the next generation of tennis talent is something I am very passionate about.

I’m so excited to be able to work with two people who have been instrumental in my career, Tyzz and Stolts, to give back to the sport I love. This is only the beginning of our partnership and we hope that over time we can make a positive difference to young Australian players,” Barty told Tennis Australia.

Barty and her team proved to know how to win on the biggest stage and now Tennis Australia is hoping their knowledge and experience will help Australia develop more future Grand Slam champions.

“We are extremely excited to be able to work with Ash, Craig and Jason to utilise the depth and experience of one of our greatest tennis champions in our performance pathway. So many of our young players have been inspired by what Ash was able to achieve on court, and her work ethic, professionalism, and way she conducted herself on court is something we hope we can instil within our performance environment.

We look forward to seeing the influence Ash and her team have on the development of the next generation,” Tennis Australia’s Chief Strategy and Performance Officer, Timothy Jolley said. Meanwhile, Barty will be at this year’s Australian Open.

Barty won’t be defending her Australian Open title this January but she will be mentoring rising Australian star Olivia Gadecki.
