MANILA, Philippines—Denden Lazaro is back in the Premier Volleyball League fold after she joined Choco Mucho.
The prolific libero announced that she’d be playing for the Flying Titans at Migs Bustos’ online show “Off the Record.”
Lazaro previously played with Petron in the Philippine Super Liga where she won the gold medal in the Grand Prix—her only title with the Blaze Spikers.
“I’m really happy to be back with my old teammates. I’m familiar with most of the people in the team,” said Lazaro, who has played with Flying Titans Maddie Madayag and Bea De Leon with Ateneo in the UAAP.
Although she just announced her official inclusion to the club, Lazaro has been training with Choco Mucho for a couple of months before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lazaro, 28, started her club career in the PVL playing for PLDT where she won the Open Conference title. She then suited up fpr BaliPure and United VC from 2015 to 2018 before switching leagues and joining Petron in the PSL.
A two-time UAAP champion, Lazaro will be playing for current Lady Eagles head coach Oliver Almadro who steered Ateneo to the Season 81 women’s championship.
“I’m really happy to be under coach Oliver. I’ve never played under him so it’s a new system to get used to,” said Lazaro of Almadro who’s also led the Blue Eagles to a three-peat from Season 77 to 79.
Lazaro will bolster a Choco Mucho team that finished seventh in the in the 2019 PVL Open Conference.
